4 Tasks to Do Before Your SAT or ACT

The morning and night before your ACT or SAT test date, you do not want to be cramming. However, there are many things you should be doing during that time. Here are four tasks that you must do in the final hours leading up to your exam.

Get a Good Night’s Rest

Many students believe that it can be beneficial to cram the night before their ACT or SAT. However, that is quite the opposite of what they should be doing. Instead of cramming, it is vital to get a good night’s sleep. First, be sure to eat a good dinner. Then, relax by doing an activity you enjoy, such as watching TV, playing a video game, or reading – and then go to bed early.

Dress Comfortably

While dressing comfortably is not something that most students think about when they are preparing to take the ACT or SAT, but it is a must. Pants that are tight or itchy wool can be distracting when you are trying to complete equations or read.

Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is something you do not want to skip. A healthy breakfast before your test will help keep you on track. The ACT and SAT both take approximately three hours to complete, so you do not want to think about eating halfway through.

Bring Everything Needed

Whether you are taking the ACT or the SAT, there are a few items you will need to bring to the exam. These include a valid photo ID, admissions ticket, pencils, and approved calculator.

Additional items include a drink and snacks for the break, spare calculator batteries, and a noiseless watch to help time the sections. Carry everything in a large, clear Ziploc bag.
